Adiwiyata Icon of SMPN 1 Wates
Assalamu’alaikum
warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Honorable ……………… as our English teacher, and all of my lovely friends.
Before I begin to give a speech, I would like
to invite you to thank to Allah the Almighty, who has given us Mercy and
Blessing, so we can meet together in this blessing place. And also I don’t
forget to deliver sholawat and salam
to our Prophet Muhammad SAW, who has brought us from the darkness to the
brightness, so we are always in the right away,
Ladies and
Gentlemen
At this time I would like to give a speech with the title “Adiwiyata
Icon of SMPN 1 Wates”.
All surely know, Castor
is our school Adiwiyata icon. But, do you know how useful this plant? For that,
I will explain further.
Castor or Jatropha
Curcas is a member of Euphorbiaceae family, which is a woody shrub that can be
found in the tropical countries. It comes from Latin America. This plant was
brought to Indonesian by the Japanese in 1942. Japan ruled that all farmers in
Indonesian to replace crops with this plant. Japan used it to make alternative petroleum
for tanks and planes in World War 2.
Ladies and Gentlemen
Almost all parts of the plant can be useful,
from the roots, saps, leaves , until the beans :
1. Root, useful for treating cough and sputum dilute.
2. Sap, contains flavoid, and saponins are useful for treating tooth decay.
3. Leaves, contains kaemfesterol, and terakserol are
useful to cope with abdominal pain.
4. Castor
bean, contains glukosanase
which have antifungal activity are useful as anticancer.
5. Castor
bean oil, useful for
processing into alternative fuels.
Beside beneficial to humans, Castor also
benefits for environment, like other plants function. It produce oxygen through
photosynthesis and reduce the air pollution around us. This minimizing the
floer atoms derived from air pollution damage the ozone layer.
There
are many benefit of Castor for us and the environment. So let’s preserve the
environment and love it wherever, whenever, and however.
